Former India captain Rohit Sharma is set to host his own TV Show. The programme will be aired on Sony TV and the Sony LIV app. This has raised speculations about the 39-year-old’s career. Rohit last played for India during the tour of England, where he scored 175 runs from three games.
Gaurav Banerjee, who is the CEO of Sony Sports Network, put out a statement where he said, “We have announced a show with active India cricket star Rohit Sharma. And Rohit will start anchoring and presenting his own show on SET and SonyLIV in September.”
The cricketer posted the promo of the show on his Instagram handle and wrote, “Stage ready. Cameras ready. See you soon.” According to reports, the Lord’s ODI was supposed to be his last in international cricket, but the veteran ended all the speculations with a brilliant 138 off 110 balls.
This will be his first venture as a host on TV, and it could be a potential preview of his plans after his international career. The veteran batter has time and again stated his desire to play the 2027 ODI World Cup. He has scored close to 12,000 runs in the ODI format and has also notched up 34 centuries in the format, along with 62 fifties, and has an average of 48.
He is the only player to hit three double tons in the fifty-over format, with a best of 264 runs coming against Sri Lanka, which is the highest score by a batter. The former Mumbai Indians skipper also helped the Men in Blue win the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025. He has retired from the T20I and Test formats and is currently playing in ODIs.
Will former India skipper retire from cricket?
The legendary cricketer hasn’t announced retirement from the game and will be seen playing for India in the ODI series against West Indies at home. The Men in Blue are set to play three ODIs.
The likes of Rohit and Virat Kohli will also play a home series against Sri Lanka later this year. The show has created widespread anticipation amongst fans on social media on a massive scale.
