Former India skipper Rohit Sharma is set to make his TV debut as a host on Sony TV in the upcoming show ‘Family Full House with Rohit Sharma’. The show is slated to begin on 19th September 2026, just a week before the ODI series against the West Indies.
The channel released a short 20-second promo in which Rohit could be heard saying, “How many rehearsals have I been made to do? Not used to this. I’m coming on 19th September to meet you all with my new show.” The 39-year-old was wearing a white T-Shirt which had non-committal printed on it.

These were the same words mentioned by chief selector Ajit Agarkar ahead of the Australian tour in 2025 while speaking about Rohit and Virat Kohli’s chances of playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Since then, there are doubts about the veteran Indian opener’s place in the squad.
During the Cardiff ODI against England, it was reported that the batter could call time on his ODI career after the final game at Lord’s. The batter, though, silenced all his critics and scored 138 runs to become the first Indian batter to notch up an ODI ton at the home of cricket.
Agarkar, addressing the media, had said, “That’s (ODI) the only format they are playing. We have picked them for the Australia tour, but as far as the 2027 ODI WC is concerned, I don’t think we need to speak about it today.” The former Indian pacer added. “Both Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma are non-committal about the 2027 World Cup.”
The BCCI recently held a review meeting at its headquarters in Mumbai. The board secretary Devajit Saikia, head coach Gautam Gambhir, T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, ODI and Test skipper Shubman Gill and CoE head VVS Laxman were present during the meeting. However, Agarkar was not present due to personal reasons.
When asked about Rohit’s future, Saikia said that the batter has been doing well. “He has scored a century, and what more do you want? I don’t want to give fodder to speculations.” Ajit Agarkar’s tenure as a chief selector is set to end later this month, and he is likely to get an extension.

Rohit Sharma cooked Ajit Agarkar BADLY. 💀
Last October, when Ajit Agarkar was asked about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli playing in the 2027 World Cup, he described both as “non-committal.”
