Rohit’s century went in vain, India lost by 27 runs in the third ODI; England won the ODI series

The three-match ODI series played between India and England has ended. The third and last match of the series was played on 19 July at Lord’s ground in London. In this match, England batted first and set a big target of 388 runs for India. In reply, the Indian team could not reach the target and lost the match by 27 runs. With this victory, England not only won the third ODI but also won the three-match series.

In this three-match ODI series, India made a great start by winning the first match by 6 wickets. In the second ODI, England leveled the series 1-1 by winning by 4 wickets. After this, England won the third and decisive match also. With this, England won the three-match ODI series 2-1.

England’s innings

England maintained pressure on the Indian bowlers from the beginning and added 192 runs without losing any wicket in the first 30 overs. The team scored 58 runs in the first 10 overs and 67-67 runs in the next two 10-10 overs. One wicket fell between 31 and 40 overs but 69 runs were also scored. In the last 10 overs, the English batsmen batted explosively and scored 126 runs losing only 2 wickets. On the basis of this strong finish, England scored 387 runs for 3 wickets in 50 overs.

England’s opener Ben Duckett batted brilliantly in this match and scored a brilliant century. He played an excellent inning of 141 runs in 135 balls. Along with him, Jacob Bethel also batted brilliantly and scored 91 runs on 93 balls. After this, Joe Root scored 74 runs, while Josh Butler returned unbeaten after scoring 41 runs. Talking about Indian bowling, Gurnoor Brar proved to be the most expensive. Whereas, Prince Yadav got 1 wicket, while Prasidh Krishna dismissed 2 batsmen.

Indian team’s innings

The Indian team had a very slow start against England. The team scored only 49 runs in the first 10 overs without losing any wicket. After this, India did not lose any wicket even between 11 and 20 overs and the team added 60 runs. India suffered its first setback during overs 21 to 30 but despite this the team scored 85 runs in this phase. Then between 31 and 40 overs another wicket fell and the team added 73 runs. Indian batting completely faltered in the last 10 overs. Between 41 and 50 overs, the team lost 5 wickets and could score only 93 runs. For this reason, India could reach only 360 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs and England won the match by 27 runs.

Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly for India and scored a brilliant century of 138 runs in 110 balls. Apart from them, Shubman Gill made an important contribution of 77 runs and Virat Kohli made an important contribution of 74 runs. Sam Curran was the most successful bowler for England and he took 4 wickets. Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Jacob Bethel got 1-1 wicket.
