The Facebook page with a blue verification badge, which can often be purchased or manipulated, published a post reading “Bye Bye Argentina” with two smiley face and waving hand emojis shortly after the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium on July 19, where Argentina suffered a 0-1 loss to Spain.
The post quickly gained traction on social media, drawing criticism from fans who believed Rodriguez, an Argentinian, was mocking her home country’s defeat.

However, Rodriguez took to her Instagram the day after the final to clear the air.
“There is a Facebook account impersonating my identity,” she wrote on an Instagram story. “I am already in contact with the Meta team to resolve this situation as soon as possible.”
She also thanked her fans for their vigilance in reporting the page.
While Rodriguez was born in Argentina, she has spent nearly her entire life in Spain. On the day of the final, she shared a photo on Instagram showing a TV screen broadcasting the match with a heart emoji.
According to GoalRodriguez does not use Facebook or X. She maintains a strong presence on Instagram and TikTok, where she frequently shares updates about her work and family life.
Rodriguez accompanied Ronaldo throughout his 2026 World Cup campaign in North America, consistently cheering him on from the stands alongside their children.
Following Portugal’s Round of 16 defeat against Spain, the family returned to their home in Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr. On July 11, she shared photos of their family vacation on Instagram.
The 32-year-old model and Ronaldo, 41, have been together since 2016. They share two children, in addition to three of Ronaldo’s, who were born via surrogate.
