Ruckus in Bengal counting: Uproar in Bhawanipur, Mamata Banerjee and Shubhendu Adhikari face to face

Bhawanipur. There are reports of uproar from many centers amid the counting of votes for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. A tense situation arose at a counting center in Bhawanipur assembly constituency, which is counted among the most high-profile seats. Seeing the situation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself reached the spot, while BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari was also seen present there.

In the viral video on social media, a huge crowd of BJP and Trinamool Congress workers is seen outside the counting centre, due to which the atmosphere has become even more heated.

If we talk about the current trends, according to the Election Commission data, till 5 pm, Bharatiya Janata Party is leading on 199 seats. Of these, victory has been registered on 12 seats, while the party is leading on 187 seats. On the other hand, the ruling Trinamool Congress is leading on 87 seats, which includes winning 5 seats and leading on 82.

Whereas Indian National Congress is ahead on only 2 seats. Among other parties, Humayun Kabir’s AJUP is leading on 2 seats, while Communist Party of India (Marxist) and All India Students Federation are leading on one seat each.

This time voting was held in two phases for 294 assembly seats in the state. In the first phase, voting was held on 152 seats on April 23, while in the second phase, voting was held on 142 seats on April 29. Record-breaking voting was recorded in both the phases.

According to the Election Commission, there was 93.19% voting in the first phase and 92.67% voting in the second phase. Thus, the total average voting was more than 92.93%, which is considered to be a new record for any state in the country. Now everyone’s eyes are on the final results, which will decide the direction of the state’s politics.
