Kolathur constituency was considered Stalin’s stronghold, from which he won three consecutive times (2011, 2016 and 2021). Vijay Thalapathy’s party candidate, Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate and Stalin’s long-time associate V. S. He has been defeated by Babu. Earlier, in the 2021 assembly elections, M. K. Stalin defeated Aadi Rajaram of AIADMK.

V. S. Babu was earlier a DMK MLA. M. for the Kolathur constituency in the 2011 assembly elections. K. He was responsible for Stalin’s election campaign, but later left the party and joined the AIADMK. Then, on 7 February 2026, he joined Vijay Thalapathy’s TVK party.

Stalin won three consecutive times from Kolathur constituency
M.K. Stalin is a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu politics. He was the five-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He is the son of Karunanidhi. After Karunanidhi’s death in 2018, he assumed the post of DMK party president. In 2011, parts of Villivakkam and Purasavakkam constituencies were merged to form Kolathur assembly constituency. Since the formation of this constituency, M.K. Stalin is an MLA.
