Ruckus in Bengal elections: Violence erupts amid voting, BJP candidate attacked, tension due to clashes at many places

Kolkata. Violent incidents in many districts made the atmosphere tense during the second phase of voting in the assembly elections in West Bengal. There have been reports of clashes in many areas including Nadia, Howrah and South 24 Parganas, raising questions on the electoral process.

The attack was carried out targeting BJP candidate Vikas Sardar in Basanti area of ​​South 24 Parganas. During his visit to booth number 76, his vehicle was allegedly vandalized, causing huge tension in the area. It is alleged that during the attack, an attempt was also made to snatch weapons from his security personnel.

Meanwhile, a clash also broke out between Trinamool Congress and ISF supporters at Ramchandrapur booth number 147 in Hooghly district. The controversy that started over the appointment of fake polling agents quickly turned violent.

Tension was also seen in Hooghly-Chuchura area, where a dispute broke out over removal of Trinamool’s election banners and tearing of voter lists. Security forces had to intervene after the situation deteriorated at several booths.

There was also a long clash between BJP and Trinamool workers at booth number 145 of Panihati assembly constituency, to control which the security forces had to take charge.

Due to these continuous incidents, there is an atmosphere of tension in many areas and security arrangements have been tightened.
