Ruckus in Bengaluru College over ‘janeu’ being removed before CET exam, 3 college professors suspended

A controversy broke out on the very first day of examinations in a college in Bengaluru, which sparked a debate on the education system and religious beliefs. It is alleged that five Brahmin students were forced to remove their sacred thread ( sacred thread) before entering the examination hall. After this incident came to light, not only did resentment increase among the parents, but the matter also reached the police.

Based on the complaint of the parents, the police have registered a case under the Indian Justice Code (BNS) under sections related to disturbing communal harmony. Considering this incident as serious, the college administration has suspended three professors. At present, both the police and administration are investigating this matter in depth.

Students’ allegation – religious symbols were forcibly removed.

Regarding the incident, a student told that she was made to remove her earrings at the examination centre, which is understandable under the rules since they are metal. But along with this, he was also asked to remove the sacred thread worn on his body, which is related to his religious faith. Under compulsion, he had to follow the instructions of the invigilators because it was necessary for him to take the examination.

Some other students also alleged that religious threads like Mauli or Kalava tied on their wrists were also made to be removed. The students say that it was not just a matter of safety rules, but things related to their religious identity were also removed.

Parents protest, questions raised on rules

After the incident, many parents reached the examination center and raised questions on this entire matter. He said that there were already clear instructions that there was no compulsion to remove things like the sacred thread. In such a situation, it is wrong to take such a step suddenly. Parents also reminded that a similar controversy had taken place last year also, after which the government had clarified that there would be no need to remove the sacred thread during the CET exam. Despite this, it is a matter of concern that the same situation may arise again this year.

political rhetoric intensified

This whole matter has also taken a political color. The BJP has accused the Congress government of Karnataka and termed it as an “anti-Hindu” step. The opposition alleges that such incidents reflect the policies of the government. At the same time, the Congress government has taken the matter seriously and ordered an investigation and said that the culprits will not be spared.

Statement of Higher Education Minister
