Ruckus in Katihar over NEET paper leak: Attempt to break the gate of the Collectorate, stone pelting after lathi charge

Purnia. In Katihar, Bihar, on Thursday, the anger of students burst on the streets regarding the NEET paper leak issue. Hundreds of students reached the Collectorate and started protesting raising slogans against the Central Government. Within no time the protest turned violent and a tense situation arose at the main gate of the Collectorate.

Controversy increased due to attempt to break the gate-
According to eyewitnesses, the protesting students were demanding a fair investigation into the NEET paper leak case and strict action against the culprits. Meanwhile, some protesters reached the main gate of the Collectorate and started trying to break the gate by pushing it. It is alleged that some people also tried to forcibly enter the premises, after which the police deployed on the spot tried to stop them.

Clash between police and students-
There was a heated argument between the police and the protesters near the gate, which later turned into a scuffle. Seeing the situation worsening, the police resorted to lathi charge to control the crowd and maintain the security of the government premises. After the police action, a stampede-like situation was created at the spot for some time.

Stone pelting after lathicharge-
The atmosphere became more tense after the lathicharge. It is alleged that some protesters threw bricks and stones at the police. There was chaos on the spot due to sudden stone pelting. The police tried to control the situation by creating a security cordon, while panic spread among the people present nearby.

Additional police force deployed-
As soon as information about the incident was received, additional police force reached the spot. After a lot of hard work the situation was brought under control. After this, security was increased in the Collectorate premises and surrounding areas and the entire area was converted into a police cantonment.

Action will be taken on the basis of video footage-
Police and administration are now busy identifying the people involved in the protest. According to officials, video footage and other evidence are being examined. Action will be taken as per rules against those found guilty of disturbing law and order and damaging government property.

At present, there is a tense atmosphere in the area and security arrangements have been tightened to deal with any untoward situation.
