Russia gave a strong offer to India, China and Pakistan were shocked!

New Delhi. Defense cooperation between India and Russia seems to be reaching a new and important turning point. Russia has offered joint production of about 100 Su-57 stealth fighter jets to India in its largest-ever military aviation offer. This deal is not limited to aircraft purchase only, but also includes extensive technology transfer and manufacturing arrangement in India.

India’s need and Russia’s stake

The Indian Air Force is currently struggling with the shortage of fighter squadrons. While the requirement is around 42 squadrons, the current strength is around 30. In such a situation, Russia is seeing this shortage as a strategic opportunity for itself and is talking about giving complete manufacturing capacity to India.

production plan in nashik

According to the Russian proposal, the Su-57 could be manufactured at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)’s Nashik plant in India. This is the same place where the first Russian aircraft like the Su-30MKI have already been built. Initial assessments have found that a large portion of the existing infrastructure can be used in this new project, although investment in some new facilities will be required.

Nashik can become aerospace hub

If this project goes ahead, Nashik could become a major stealth fighter manufacturing hub in India. Here, not only assembly lines will have to be developed, but high-tech facilities like composite materials, advanced avionics and stealth coating will also have to be expanded.

Technology transfer is the most important aspect

The biggest attraction of this deal is technology transfer. Russia is said to be ready to give India access to many important technologies, including source code, system integration and the possibility of adding Indian technology in the future. This can prove to be a very important step for India’s defense self-reliance.
