Sacha Baron Cohen recalls getting into trouble at Wimbledon last year as Ali G. The actor recently revisited the bizarre moment and opened up about the experience.

During his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sacha Baron Cohen recalled attending Wimbledon last year, dressed as his controversial character Ali G. The actor was asked to leave the premises after allegedly offering drugs to kids.

Fallon showed the clip capturing the incident, where a security guard asked Baron Cohen, dressed as Ali G, to leave, accusing him of offering cigarettes and drugs to some kids sitting behind him. The actor defended himself, saying, “I ain’t a kiddie fiddler. What was I offering? No, that ain’t true; we ain’t got no drugs.”

The crowd erupted in laughter, while Fallon said with a chuckle, “I don’t know how you do it. I don’t know how you always get all this crazy trouble, but I mean you weren’t offering drugs.” Baron Cohen responded, “Ali G is not about drugs or anything illegal. He would never do that. No.”

Fallon then pulled out an image of Ali G being escorted off the premises, wearing a jacket that read “Official Ganja Dealer.” Baron Cohen then jokingly admitted, “Okay yeah, he was selling drugs.”

Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G stunt was far from his usual antics

Sacha Baron Cohen first debuted Ali G on Channel 4’s The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998. The character has since sparked a ton of controversy with his outrageous satirical remarks. Some of his most notorious moments include making jokes about Kate Middleton and Jimmy Savile at the 2012 British Comedy Awards.

Ali G isn’t Baron Cohen’s only work that has caused controversy. His 2006 mockumentary film Borat has been accused of ethnic defamation. It was banned in almost all Arab countries except for Lebanon and was denounced by the Kazakh government upon release.

Most recently, he returned as Ali G in the 2026 comedy film Ali G: Who Iz I? The film was also met with backlash, to which the actor responded with a satirical video message on Instagram.
