Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’ reportedly delayed again amid CBFC clearance issues; August release in doubt

Salman Khan‘s much-awaited war drama Maatrubhumi has reportedly hit another roadblock, with fresh reports suggesting that the film’s theatrical release has been postponed due to pending clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The latest development has cast uncertainty over the film’s planned August release window.

Originally titled Battle of Galwanthe film is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese forces. It was initially scheduled to release on April 17, 2026coinciding with Eidbefore being pushed to August. However, reports now claim that the CBFC has not yet issued the required certification, making another postponement likely.

The film’s teaser, unveiled on Salman Khan’s birthday in December 2025generated significant buzz but also sparked controversy in China, with some social media users alleging that it presented a distorted account of the Galwan Valley conflict. The film was later retitled from Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi as part of its revised positioning.

The film stars Salman Khan as Colonel B. Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regimentwho led Indian troops during the Galwan Valley confrontation. The cast also includes Chitrangda Singh, Abhilash Chaudhary, and Ankur Bhatia in pivotal roles, while the music has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya.

As of now, the makers have not officially announced a revised release date. Fans are eagerly awaiting clarity on when the highly anticipated war drama will finally reach cinemas. Industry observers believe the release timeline will depend on when the film secures its CBFC certification, after which the producers are expected to announce a fresh theatrical schedule.
