Salman Khan’s Matrubhoomi: Salman Khan’s ‘Matrubhoomi’ in trouble, face of the film changed due to removal of mention of China and Galwan; Know what is the release update
Mumbai: Bollywood’s ‘Bhaijaan’ Salman Khan’s much-awaited film ‘Mathrubhoomi’ is going through a difficult phase these days. Major changes made to the film following the intervention of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) have raised question marks over its release. According to the report, references to China and Galvan Valley have been completely removed from the film, due to which the basic premise of the film’s story has changed. Changed story: ‘Mathrubhoomi’ became ‘human drama’ from ‘war film’. According to sources, after removing the mention of China, the biggest challenge before the writers of the film was that who is the enemy now? The focus of the film has been changed to resolve this ‘conflict’. New avatar: The film has now become a ‘human drama’ instead of a heavy-handed ‘war drama’, with more emphasis on family and relationships. War Scenes: Although some parts of the war are still present in the film, the political references have been completely removed. Certification issue: Not yet approved. Changes have been made in the film. But the technical and legal difficulties are not over yet. Pending Review: Till now, no one from the Defense Ministry, the Indian Army or the Censor Board (CBFC) has seen the revised version of the film. Next step: The makers are confused about who should show the film first so that no new controversy arises at the time of release. OTT or Theatre? Makers clarified the situation: There was a rumor in the market that ‘Mathrubhoomi’ may be released directly on OTT due to its problems. But the latest reports have completely rejected it. Theatrical Release: Salman Khan and director Apoorva Lakhia are in favor of releasing the film on the big screen only. He believes that ‘Mathrubhoomi’ has been made on a grand scale and its real pleasure will come only in theatres. Censorship rules: Insiders say that censorship rules apply on OTT as well and the film cannot be released there without government approval, so going on OTT is not a ‘shortcut’. Release date: When instead of April? The film was earlier scheduled to release in April 2026, but due to controversies and It was postponed due to re-editing. The discussions of May 2026 also seem to be cooling down now as the certification process is expected to take a lot of time. At present, the team has not announced any new official date.
