Samsung showcases its latest Odyssey gaming monitors at Gamescom 2026, focusing on speed, screen size, OLED picture quality, and flexibility. The 2027 Odyssey monitor lineup includes four models: the Odyssey OLED G9, Odyssey OLED G7, Odyssey OLED G8, and high-speed Odyssey G6.
The company says the new lineup is designed for different types of players, from competitive FPS gamers who want extremely high refresh rates to players who prefer large, cinematic screens for RPGs and open-world games. Samsung introduced the lineup in Cologne, Germany, during Gamescom 2026, which took place between August 26 and 30.
Samsung Odyssey Gaming Monitors Focus on Different Ways to Play
Gaming monitors have moved beyond a single-spec approach. Competitive players typically focus on refresh rates and response times, while others prefer resolution and screen size, among other things.
The recently unveiled Samsung Odyssey line of monitors uses this philosophy. Instead of targeting a particular gamer, Samsung is focusing on offering monitors with varied specs, such as resolution, refresh rate, OLED, and screen shapes.

Odyssey G6 Pushes Refresh Rates to 1,100Hz
The most eye-catching specification in the new lineup is the 27-inch Odyssey G6. According to Samsung, this monitor is the world’s first gaming monitor with a 1,100Hz refresh rate.
The G6 model features a Fast IPS screen and a 1 ms response time. The Dual Mode feature lets gamers choose either QHD at 600 Hz or HD at 1,100Hz.
The very high refresh rate targets competitive FPS players, whose games require quick motions and rapid reflexes. According to Samsung, the Odyssey G6 will be available worldwide starting from the second half of 2026.
Odyssey OLED G9 Offers a 49-Inch Ultra-Wide Display
However, for gamers who need an even wider viewing angle, there comes the Odyssey OLED G9. The 49-inch monitor has the same Dual QHD 5120 x 1440 resolution and supports up to a 360 Hz refresh rate. It uses Samsung’s fifth-generation QD-OLED screen with Penta Tandem technology.
The monitor additionally has a new feature called Dual Mode. This means users can enjoy the display at native Dual QHD resolution and a 360 Hz refresh rate, or switch to Dual HD resolution with up to a 720 Hz refresh rate if speed becomes more important than resolution. The new monitor also has a 0.03 ms GtG response time.
Odyssey OLED G8 Combines 4K and High Refresh Rates
The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 takes a different approach by offering three display modes. Players can run the monitor at UHD resolution and 360 Hz, QHD at 520 Hz, or Full HD at 680 Hz. This lets users choose between sharper visuals and higher refresh rates, depending on the game and hardware being used.
The Odyssey OLED G8 uses a fifth-generation QD-OLED display. Furthermore, it comes equipped with Samsung’s Glare Free technology. In addition, the monitor boasts a 0.03 ms response time and compatibility with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible technologies.
A 42-Inch Curved OLED G7 Joins the Lineup
Another one of Samsung’s innovations is a 42-inch curved OLED G7 monitor. It is presented as “the first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor in the world.” Its configuration includes a 4K OLED screen with a 165Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time. Its 1000R curvature helps draw the sides of the monitor closer to the gamer. Samsung promotes this monitor especially for cinematic, immersive games like RPGs and open-world titles.
Samsung Expands HDR10+ Gaming and Odyssey 3D Support
However, it wasn’t just the hardware that got Samsung’s attention at Gamescom. The company also announced an HDR10+ GAMING collaboration with Activision Blizzard for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
Samsung aims to roll out HDR10+ GAMING in more than 20 AAA titles by the first half of 2027. The company claims that the technology will help bring out colors and contrast on supported devices.
The company also showcased its growing Odyssey 3D ecosystem, featuring games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Cronos: The New Dawn. In early 2026, the company had shown glasses-free 4K 3D gaming via eye-tracking and view-mapping technologies.

Samsung’s latest Odyssey lineup shows how gaming monitors are becoming more specialized. Instead of simply increasing resolution or refresh rates, the company is offering different combinations for different gaming styles.
