A sanitation worker was stabbed to death in broad daylight on Sunday morning in Kalyanpuri area. The deceased has been identified as Anil Kumar. Preliminary police investigation has revealed that the accused had come to kill another person, but due to mistaken identity, he targeted Anil. The entire incident has been captured in CCTV camera.

The incident took place at around 7:20 am on Sunday morning in 16th block of Kalyanpuri. In the CCTV footage, Anil is seen picking up garbage from the road and putting it in the tipper. Meanwhile, a person wearing a yellow T-shirt reached there on foot. He took out a knife from behind his waist and attacked Anil.
The accused stabbed the neck and stomach about seven times with a knife. After this he slapped and kicked also. Seriously injured Anil kept lying on the road in pain for about ten minutes. Local people took him to LBS Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The accused had come to murder his wife's lover
According to police sources, the target of the accused was sweeper Gulshan. Gulshan drives a garbage tipper and used to work with Anil. The appearance of both is said to be very similar. It is suspected that due to this reason the accused mistook Anil for Gulshan.
It is being told that Gulshan had a love affair with a woman. The woman's husband came to know about this and wanted to kill Gulshan. Police suspect that Gulshan had already sensed the danger and had got down from the tipper and moved ahead some time before the incident.
The accused was identified, police started searching
Kalyanpuri police station has registered a case of murder. According to the police, the accused has been identified, but he is currently absconding. Teams have been deployed to arrest him. After post-mortem, Anil's body was handed over to his relatives.
