Akhbar24 Saudi reported on 9 July 2026 that Abha International Airport has ranked first in the world in terms of flight time. Although this claim is yet to be independently investigated, earlier in October 2025, an international organization named CIRIUM had declared it to be the third most punctual airport in the world. At that time its on-time flight rate was 92.40%.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) also gave a report in May 2025. According to the report, Abha Airport was 100% compliant in the category of airports with 2 to 5 million annual passengers. In this, the waiting time of incoming and outgoing flights was also found to be the best.
This airport is operated by Cluster2 Airports. Recently, on July 5, 2026, a record 130 flights were operated here in a single day. This included 117 domestic and 15 international flights, which explains the increasing number of passengers.
All this progress is part of the ongoing aviation program under Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy. The government aims to increase airport capacity and improve the quality of services provided to passengers.
