Saudi Arabia’s big target: 35.4 billion trees to be planted under Middle East Green Initiative

Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) has taken a big decision to save the environment. Under this, the entire area 35.4 billion trees to apply and 99.4 million hectares Work will be done to make the barren land green again. This big mission was discussed in the recently held 20th Executive Committee meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia. Developments and schemes under the initiative

At the meeting, member countries reviewed data from their national vegetation development plans. General Secretary of MGI Engineer Ibrahim Al-Turki Said that many important works have been completed in the first half of the year 2026. This includes capacity building programmes, stronger strategic partnerships and the institution’s new communications department, which has launched an official website and social media platforms.

The Executive Committee has also prepared a five-year strategy and roadmap for the times to come, which will be presented in the next ministerial meeting. The main objective of this initiative is to create an advisory committee for scientific and technical guidance and to improve the internal policies of the government. This scheme is the beginning of a big change in the field of environment in the coming times.
