Saudi-Pakistan-Turkey Announce Defense Alliance
On August 7, leaders of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Turkey announced the formation of a new defense cooperation framework in Mecca.
The development has drawn attention across the region due to the strategic importance of the three countries and their growing military cooperation.
Dhaka Says National Interest Will Guide Decision
Bangladesh's newly appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said the country has a positive approach toward participating in economic and security partnerships with different nations.
Speaking to the state-run news agency BSS, Kabir said that Bangladesh follows a “Bangladesh First” policy, where every international decision is evaluated based on national interests.
He said Dhaka believes in maintaining a balanced foreign policy and will consider factors such as economic conditions, trade opportunities and strategic benefits before taking any decision.
The possibility of Bangladesh moving closer to the alliance comes at a time when Dhaka has been working to strengthen relations with Pakistan.
Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obeid also said that any decision regarding participation in the Mecca-based alliance would be taken while keeping the interests of Bangladesh and its people as the top priority.

The possibility of Bangladesh joining a military grouping involving Pakistan and Turkey has attracted attention in New Delhi, especially amid changing regional dynamics.
