New Delhi: The political conflict between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has now reached its peak. After leaving the party and joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the round of allegations and counter-allegations between the two parties has intensified. On one hand, Raghav Chadha is making serious allegations against his former party and raising questions about the current condition of the organization, while on the other hand, Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP is retaliating by calling him a “traitor”. Party leaders are counting the role of AAP in his political journey. The controversy is not limited to this, but has now reached personal life. AAP even claimed that the party had a role in Chadha’s marriage with Parineeti Chopra.
Raghav Chadha has released another video message regarding his decision to leave the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In this he explained in detail the reasons why he had to take such a big political step. Raghav Chadha said that he left the career of Chartered Accountancy (CA) to join politics and became a founding member of AAP. He said, “I gave 15 years of my life to this party and nurtured it with my blood and sweat.”
He alleged that with time the atmosphere of the party has become “poisonous” and it has come under the influence of some corrupt people who are working for personal gain rather than the national interest. Explaining his decision, Chadha said that he had three options – to leave politics, try to reform within the party or do positive politics from a new platform. He told that he chose the third option. Giving an example, he said, “If the environment where you work becomes poisonous, you are prevented from working, your hard work is suppressed, you are made silent, then will you be able to work? In such a situation, it is better to change the workplace.”
Notice is given while changing job- AAP
AAP leader and former minister Saurabh Bhardwaj responded to Chadha’s arguments by releasing a video. He said that there is a difference between changing job and changing political party, because politics is based on ideology, whereas job is a part of personal career. Giving an example, Bhardwaj said that when people change jobs, they usually give three months’ notice and ensure complete transition of their work. He said that it is a responsibility and people should not harm their work while leaving. He further alleged that political decisions were taken suddenly and without transparency, and also said that such steps harm the organization.
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that in this alleged plan, some issues related to the Central Government were deliberately raised, so that the public image of Raghav Chadha could be strengthened. Giving examples, he said that regarding issues related to cheap samosas at the airport, recharge rules and gig workers, there were indications from the Central Government that these issues should be raised in Parliament or public forum. According to the AAP leader, all this was part of a strategy to gain political mileage and media headlines. He alleged that BJP and the Central Government have also played a role in this entire process.
The marriage took place because AAP made him a Rajya Sabha member.
Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed that the recognition and political opportunities that Chadha got were because of his party. He even said that if he had not been a Rajya Sabha MP, his personal and public identity would not have been so strong today. He said, “You had to leave the party, you could have left, people don’t abuse you. You are being abused because you left your party, which gave you everything, today you could even get married because you were made a member of the Rajya Sabha, otherwise no one would have asked you.” The AAP leader further alleged that Chadha conspired against the organization and attempted to break the entire team. He said that no matter how many arguments are given, the public is not seeing this step in a positive light. It is noteworthy that the marriage of Raghav Chadha and actress Parineeti Chopra took place in September 2023, about which political rhetoric has also come into discussion.
