‘Save foreign exchange, postpone buying gold…’ PM Modi reiterated his appeal to the countrymen

Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given an important message to the country for two consecutive days. After the public meeting in Telangana, now in Gujarat also he appealed to the people to reduce the purchase of gold. PM says that the current global situation and the ongoing tension in the Middle East is having a direct impact on India’s economy.

Emphasis on reducing dependence on foreign products 

According to media reports, during the inauguration of the Sardardham Project on Monday (11 May 2026) in Vadodara, Gujarat, PM Modi said that we will have to reduce the use of imported goods at every small and big level.

Besides, one should also avoid such personal expenses due to which foreign currency goes out. He reminded that even in the past, during times of war or crisis, the countrymen have fulfilled their responsibilities on the appeal of the government. Today is the time to show that unity again.

Advice to postpone buying gold for one year 

In fact, last Sunday (10 May 2026), the PM in Telangana had openly said that due to global conflicts, pressure on India is increasing. Therefore, in the interest of the country, people should refrain from buying gold for one year. Import of gold puts a huge burden on the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

Sardardham project inaugurated in Vadodara 

It is noteworthy that now on Monday, PM Modi inaugurated many development works under the Sardardham Project in Ankhol, Vadodara. This also includes Dr. Dushyant and Daksha Patel hostel built at a cost of Rs 150 crore. This hostel will provide education facilities to 2000 students.

give priority to civic duty 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed that it is the duty of every citizen to reduce the pressure on the country’s resources. India will become economically stronger only when we reduce non-essential imports and foreign expenditure.

The opposition protested 

Leaders of opposition parties have also reacted to this appeal of PM Modi. Many Congress leaders openly raised questions on the Prime Minister’s appeal. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh said that Modi did not make all these appeals during the elections.
