SBI Cyber Incident Customer Safety Alert for Users

The State Bank of India (SBI) has reached out via email and WhatsApp to customers whose data was involved in a recent cyber incident, reiterating that all account balances and customer funds remain completely secure.

In an official update released on October 23, 2026, the country’s largest public lender confirmed that it had individually notified affected account holders.

While assuring users that their money is safe, SBI has issued a nationwide advisory urging customers to exercise heightened vigilance when using digital banking platforms.

The bank warned account holders against sharing critical authentication details—such as One-Time Passwords (OTPs), Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), and internet banking passwords—with anyone.

It also cautioned against responding to suspicious calls, messages, or emails, noting that scammers frequently impersonate bank officials to trick users into revealing confidential credentials through fraudulent links or account verification requests.

Although SBI reaffirmed the security of all funds, its public communication did not disclose the specific technical nature of the cyber breach, the total number of affected accounts, or the exact categories of customer data involved.

Customers are advised to verify suspicious messages through official channels and report unauthorised activity immediately.
