School Holiday August 25: Heavy Rain Hits Several States, But Are Schools Closed Tomorrow? Check State-Wise Updates

Heavy rains persist across various regions of India due to the monsoons. IMD has issued a warning of heavy rains in various states in India. This raises doubts among students and parents as to whether schools will be closed or not on Wednesday, August 25, 2026. As of now, there has been no such official announcement regarding any school closure because of the rains in India. It totally depends upon the climatic conditions of the particular area as well as orders given by the respective state government/district administration/school.

Delhi-NCR School Holiday Update

There is no confirmed rain-related school holiday in Delhi-NCR for August 25 at present. Schools and local authorities may issue separate instructions if rainfall, waterlogging or road conditions create safety concerns.

Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh School Holiday

The state of Uttarakhand is still vulnerable to heavy rainfall in hilly regions. Landslides, roadblocks, and disruptions in transportation are possible. Himachal Pradesh also faces similar weather issues. Classrooms may be disrupted depending on road safety. However, a warning by IMD does not automatically translate into the closure of classrooms. Students are advised to follow instructions by the local administration.

Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rainfall is predicted in certain parts of Bihar and Jharkhand. Waterlogging and disruptions in transport due to low-lying regions are expected to occur. Presently, there is no confirmed holiday for rain-related reasons.

Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh

Active monsoons are prevailing in certain parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rains have led to waterlogging in certain regions, including Raipur.

Odisha School Holiday on August 25

Odisha has announced school closures in some rain-hit areas. Schools in Nabarangpur district have been ordered to remain closed. In Bhadrak, 89 schools in vulnerable areas will also remain shut due to heavy rain and flooding. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha until August 26. Parents should follow district-level announcements before sending children to school.

West Bengal School Holiday Update

West Bengal is also witnessing active monsoon conditions. Heavy rainfall is expected in several areas. The weather department warned of particularly heavy rain in East Midnapore and South 24 Parganas. Jhargram and Purulia were also under a heavy-rain watch. North Bengal districts may also receive rain. However, rainfall intensity can differ from one district to another.

Kerala School Holiday August 25

Kerala is receiving significant monsoon rainfall. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur were among the districts under a yellow rainfall alert in the latest update.

August 25 is also listed as a holiday in Kerala for First Onam/Milad-i-Sherif. However, students should check their school’s holiday calendar as institutional schedules may differ.

Will Schools Be Closed Tomorrow Due to Rain?

IMD alert for rain does not necessarily mean that there will be a school holiday. The state government or district administration takes the call to announce a holiday if they find it necessary.

In case of floods or landslides that may affect travel, schools may decide to close or halt classes temporarily. It is advisable that parents should only depend on official notifications and not on social media messages.

School Holiday on 25 August for Eid-e-Milad

Apart from holidays due to weather conditions, 25 August is marked as a holiday for Eid-e-Milad/Milad-i-Sherif in several states, including Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. It must be noted that the holiday may not apply to schools in some states/institutions.
