Second expansion of Yogi cabinet today: These 6 new faces including SP rebel Manoj Pandey will take oath

Lucknow 10 May. The biggest news of this time is coming out from the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is going to do the second expansion of his cabinet today at 3:30 pm on Sunday. After the first expansion that took place just before the Lok Sabha elections 2024, this reshuffle is now being carried out keeping in mind the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Governor Anandiben Patel on Saturday evening and submitted the final list of new ministers. The names of 6 new ministers who will attend the swearing-in ceremony to be held today have been finalized, in which special priority has been given to ethnic and regional balance.

The biggest and most popular name in this expansion is that of Manoj Pandey, MLA from Unchahar seat of Rae Bareli who rebelled against Samajwadi Party. He has been a cabinet minister in the SP government and is considered a big leader of Brahmins in Awadh and Purvanchal region. Recently, to remove the resentment arising within the Brahmin community regarding various issues, BJP has decided to bring Manoj Pandey into its fold and give him a place in the cabinet. Apart from Manoj Pandey, many other faces who have a strong hold in the government and organization are also getting a chance this time:

Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary: Former state president of UP BJP and a prominent face of the Jat community in western Uttar Pradesh. His inclusion will strengthen the Jat vote bank.
Krishna Paswan: She is a militant Dalit woman face from Khaga assembly seat of Fatehpur. Recently, he had made a lot of headlines by showing activism at the grassroots level in his area.
Surendra Diler: Surendra Diler, who comes from a strong political family of Hathras, is the MLA from Khair seat of Aligarh and is counted among the young Dalit faces of the party.
Hansraj Vishwakarma: Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Varanasi. Vishwakarma, who comes from a backward class (OBC), has played an important role in giving a big victory to the BJP in the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kailash Singh Rajput: Kailash Rajput, MLA from Tirwa assembly seat of Kannauj, is also being included in the cabinet in view of his strong regional influence.

The maximum number of ministers in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly can be 60, whereas at present there are a total of 54 ministers including the Chief Minister. By filling all these 6 vacant seats, the Yogi government has completely adjusted its equations for the 2027 assembly elections by including 1 Brahmin, 3 OBC and 2 Dalit faces. At the same time, taking a dig at this extension, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has raised a question on social media whether this slip has come from Delhi, due to which discussions are hot about the change in the powers of the Chief Minister.
