Security rehearsal across the country before NEET-UG re-exam, mock drill to be held today
Tezzbuzz Desk- The National Testing Agency (NTA) has completed extensive preparations to conduct the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam in a fair and safe manner. A mock drill will be organized across the country on Saturday, a day before the examination, in which the examination conduct and security arrangements will be tested in real conditions.
According to NTA, more than 22 lakh candidates will appear in the re-exam to be held on June 21. Thousands of examination centers have been set up for the examination in various cities of India and also in foreign countries. All the centers have been kept under special security cover and multi-level monitoring system has been implemented there.
Special responsibilities have been assigned to the district administration, police and central agencies to maintain the confidentiality of the examination. Security forces have been deployed for safe transportation of question papers and OMR sheets. Vehicles carrying examination material will be GPS tracked and they will also be provided with police escort.
Apart from this, additional CCTV cameras and signal jammers have been installed at the examination centres, so that any kind of irregularity or attempts of cheating through electronic means can be prevented.
Real-time monitoring of all examination centers will be done from NTA headquarters and special control room. A large number of observers, city coordinators and other officials have been deployed in the examination conduct, who will ensure transparency of the examination.
The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Eligible candidates of disabled category will be given additional time as per rules.
It is noteworthy that after the NEET-UG 2026 examination held in May, complaints of paper leaks and irregularities were reported from many states. The exam was canceled after preliminary investigations indicated irregularities. After this, it was decided to conduct re-exam based on the review of the Central Government and investigating agencies.
NTA said that social media platforms are being continuously monitored to prevent rumors and fake information related to the examination. Candidates are advised to rely only on official information and report any suspicious message or activity to the concerned agencies.
The agency says that this time additional precautions have been taken at every level to make the examination process completely transparent and secure, so that the confidence of the candidates can be maintained.
