A businessman who once gained fame in the business world has given this generously. His name is Siripong Akkarasriuk. Siripong, who is the chairman of 'Howell's' ice cream brand, is set to sell his business for an estimated $6 million, or over Rs 50 crore. Importantly, instead of selling their business and switching to another business, they have decided to take Sannyas. He has made it clear that he will spend his life doing meditation and spiritual practice in the forest.
When was the ice cream business started?
Howells ice cream brand was started in 1999 by entrepreneur Siripong Akkarasriuk. At one time, this brand was very popular in Thailand. After that gradually he expanded everywhere and set up many of his shops. But, over the years, the number of Havells stores has reduced and now only one standalone store remains.
How many million dollars will the business sell for?
Entrepreneur Siripong says his entire business is worth an estimated 165 million baht, which is more than 6 million US dollars. The deal will include not only the ice cream brand, but several key commercial assets. The package also includes approximately 2.77 acres of land, offices, factories, a Howells outlet, trademarks, professional expertise and ice cream recipes.
Why did you decide to sell this business?
Siripong explained in a social media post that he did not decide to sell his business just to live a spiritual life. So the difficulty in expanding Howells' business is also a major reason. He added that in the last two years, attempts were made to open new outlets in shopping malls but could not find space for their shops.
According to Siripong, Howells did not have the opportunity to expand despite the malls being vacant after many of the old tenants left. It is because of this that Howells, once a very famous figure in Thailand, is now limited to an independent entity.
This plan has been in preparation for 15 years
Entrepreneur Siripong said he started preparing for the next phase of his life about 15 years ago. Now he is fully determined to become a monk.
