Shah Rukh Khan and director Siddharth Anand’s highly anticipated action-thriller “King” is already making headlines even before its release. Media reports claim that the film’s music rights are set to be sold to Zee Music for approximately ₹50 crore (approximately $500 million), in what is considered one of the biggest music deals in recent years. However, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Managing Director and CEO Punit Goenka has stated that negotiations are ongoing and no final agreement has been reached.
In a conversation, Punit Goenka said he wouldn’t comment on the deal’s value, as the agreement hasn’t been signed yet. He added that Zee Music has always followed a royalty-sharing policy with producers, and over the past seven years, the company has paid record-breaking royalties to producers. The film “Ramayana” is also in the news for music rights, with T-Series reportedly acquiring the rights to both parts for a substantial sum.
Shah Rukh Khan will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time in ‘King’, produced under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Films. Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi and Raghav Juyal will also be seen in important roles in the film. Sachin-Jigar are composing the music for the film’s songs, while Anirudh Ravichander will provide the background score. The film is scheduled to release in theatres in December 2026.
