When will Navratri start??
Every year Shardiya Navratri starts from the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This time Pratipada Tithi will start from 9.19 pm on 10th October 2026 and will continue till 9.30 pm on 11th October. According to Udaya Tithi, the first day of Navratri will be considered as 11th October. On the same day, Navratri will start with the installation of Kalash in the morning and Maa Shailputri, the first form of Maa Durga, will be worshipped.
Auspicious time for establishing Kalash
Morning time will be auspicious for Ghatasthapana on 11th October. Kalash can be established from 6:19 am to 10:12 am. If you are not able to establish the Kalash at this time, then Ghatasthapana can also be done in Abhijeet Muhurta in the afternoon. This Muhurta will last from 12:02 pm to 12:48 pm. Keep in mind that there may be a slight difference in the time of Ghatasthapana according to the time of sunrise in different cities.
This time Saptami Tithi will last for two days
This time Saptami Tithi will remain for two days in Shardiya Navratri. Maa Kalratri will be worshiped on 17th and 18th October. After this, Ashtami and Navami Tithi will be worshiped on 19th October. Navratri will end on this day with Kanya Puja. Vijayadashami i.e. Dussehra will be celebrated the next day i.e. on 20th October.
Maa Durga will come riding on an elephant
According to religious beliefs, this time Maa Durga will arrive on an elephant. It is believed that when the Goddess arrives on Sunday, her vehicle is an elephant. The arrival of the Goddess on an elephant is considered auspicious. It is also considered a sign of happiness, prosperity and auspiciousness.
