Now going to Dubai from Sharjah is going to be easier than ever. The government is spending 750 million dirhams on laying a new network of roads so that the traffic problem can be eliminated. The work on this big project is expected to be completed by November 2026, which will provide great relief to thousands of people traveling daily.
👉: Salalah Shooting: Fight and firing between two civilians in Salalah, Oman, condition of both is stable.
This entire work is being done on the orders of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi. The responsibility of completing this project has been given to Mubadara and Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA). Many government institutions like Sharjah Police, Municipality and SEWA are cooperating in this work.
Highlights of the project
- Al Taawun Tunnel: A 500 meter long tunnel is being built under Al Taawun Roundabout. It will have three lanes on both sides, which will make it easier to reach Expo Center Sharjah. Here during peak hours, 4,200 vehicles will be able to pass in one direction.
- Al Khulafa-Al Rashideen Intersection: Here new roads are being built under the old bridge and two additional lanes are being added. A 315 meter long slip bridge will also be built for Gamal Abdel Nasser Street.
- Industrial Street Bridge: Two new 130 meter long bridges are being built on Industrial Street 1 and 2. This will ease the traffic going to Maleha Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road.
- Work of Industrial Street 3: New bridges are also being built here which will connect the Ring Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This entire route will be approximately 2.7 kilometers long.
This project will most benefit the expatriates and the Indian community who live in Sharjah and travel to Dubai daily for work. To avoid traffic jams, some routes have already been changed, for which Sharjah Police has made necessary arrangements. To complete the work faster, precast concrete parts are being used.
