During the dialogue, Shekhar Suman raised the issue of the recent Marathi language controversy. “Non-Marathi people were told that they would not be allowed to drive rickshaws or scooters. This created a sense of fear among Biharis like us,” he said in a mushy style. Gadkari replied with a smile, “You are a Bihari too!” He also mentioned the infrastructure facilities built by the central government in Bihar and explained, “If we were against the Biharis, so much development work would not have been done in Bihar.”

Explaining his stance on language, Gadkari said that everyone should respect the local language and culture. “If I have to drive a rickshaw, I will also learn Marathi. Every language should be proud of itself, but it should not be extremist or dogmatic,” he said. Commenting on politics and social responsibility, Gadkari said that the people are the real power of change. “If people reject wrong politics, the whole system can change,” he said. He also reiterated his stance of not discriminating on the basis of caste, religion, language or faith.
