Shubman Gill said, “I think we were completely in the match till the 45th over. But in the last three overs, we gave away more runs than required. About 60 runs were lost there. That’s where the match went out of our hands. When we came out to bat, we were fully confident that if wickets remained till 40 overs, we could win the match. Our effort was to play at a pace of six to six and a half per over after the powerplay. Then the last over. If we score 100-110 runs in 10 overs, the match could have gone either way.
Gave more runs in death overs
Gill further said, “We have also got a lot of good things from this series. Almost every player scored runs and also took wickets in some match or the other. But our bowling was not good in this match. Especially in the power play, we bowled a lot of loose balls. Both the openers of England took full advantage of it. They did not give us a chance to come back in the match. On top of that, they also scored runs quickly in the death overs.”
