Shubman Gill broke 15 years old record, created history with 334 runs; Virat-Ganguly-Dhoni also behind

New Delhi. Team India ended the three-match ODI series played between India and West Indies 2-1. In this series, the bat of Indian captain Shubman Gill spoke strongly.

Gill played a century in the first ODI. He scored a record double century in the second ODI. However, in the third ODI the captain was out after scoring just one run.

Despite this, Gill made a big record in his name. He has become the highest run scorer as captain in the three-match ODI series.

Gill broke the 15-year-old record of Zimbabwe's Brendan Taylor.

Scored 334 runs in three matches

Shubman Gill scored a total of 334 runs in three matches against West Indies. His average was 167. During this period, two centuries came from his bat.

With this brilliant performance, Gill left behind Brendan Taylor's record. Taylor scored 310 runs in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand in 2011.

Gill is now only the second captain to score 300 or more runs as captain in a three-match ODI series.

Babar Azam also included in top-5

Shubman Gill has reached the first position in terms of scoring most runs as a captain in the three-match ODI series.

Brendan Taylor is at second place with 310 runs. West Indies' Shay Hope scored 278 runs against India in 2026 and is in third place.

Pakistan's Babar Azam scored 276 runs against Australia in 2021. He is at number four.

UAE's Kurram Khan is in fifth place with 270 runs.

Virat Kohli's record also broken

Gill also created a new record as Indian captain with this series. Earlier, the record of scoring the most runs by an Indian captain in a three-match ODI series was in the name of Virat Kohli.

Virat had scored 263 runs in the three-match series against New Zealand in 2017. Now Gill has made this record in his name by scoring 334 runs.

Ganguly-Yuvraj-Dhoni equal by becoming Player of the Series

Shubman Gill was named Player of the Series for his excellent performance against West Indies.

This is the seventh Player of the Series award of his ODI career. With this achievement he has equaled Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.

Among Indian players, now only Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are ahead of Gill in this matter.
