Second fastest Indian in terms of balls after Kapil Dev
If we talk about facing the balls, Shubman Gill has become the second fastest Indian player to score 3000 ODI runs. He achieved this feat in only 3016 balls. In this list, former captain Kapil Dev (about 2995 balls) is at the first place, while Gill, Shreyas Iyer played 3049 balls and Virender Sehwag became 3rd Hazari by playing 3164 balls. Today Gill has left both of them behind.
Double century missed due to reverse sweep
Captain Shubhman Gill was seen in a very dangerous mood in this innings. He destroyed the Afghan bowlers and played a brilliant inning of 154 runs in just 110 balls, which included 22 brilliant fours and 2 skyscraper sixes. However, while attempting an unorthodox reverse sweep shot in Nangeyalia Kharoti’s over, he missed it completely and was caught by AM Ghazanfar. When Gill was returning to the pavilion after getting out, the entire stadium stood up and welcomed him with applause.

Three major changes in the Indian team
For this match, the Indian team management has made three important changes in its playing eleven. Fast bowler Prince Yadav, who created a stir with his lethal bowling in IPL 2026, is making his International ODI debut today. He has been included in the team in place of Prasidh Krishna. Apart from this, Kuldeep Yadav has made a successful comeback in the team in place of injured all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, strong batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and spinner Harsh Dubey.
