Shubman Gill has been injured 7 times in the last 2 years. Find out which injuries the captain has faced.

Shubman Gill: The fitness of the Indian cricket team’s star players has further exacerbated the situation for management. Meanwhile, the repeated injuries to ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill are raising serious questions. Gill has been injured seven times in the past two years, yet he now plays only two formats. The major question is what work is being done on his injuries at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence. He was injured even before the series against Sri Lanka.

Captain Shubman Gill is getting injured again and again

Current Team India captain Shubman Gill missed the first Test against New Zealand in October 2024 due to neck stiffness. He then fractured his left thumb in Perth during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November 2024. This same injury also prevented him from playing in the first Test against Australia. A year later, in November 2025, Gill suffered neck spasms during the first Test against South Africa, which prevented him from playing in that match and then the second Test. Gill also missed the T20I series against South Africa in December 2025 due to a toe injury.

There was a problem during IPL as well.

Shubman Gill also suffered from neck stiffness during the IPL in April 2026. This caused him to miss matches despite captaining the Gujarat Titans in the 2026 IPL. During the first ODI against England in July 2026, captain Shubman Gill was forced to leave the field at 80 due to a problem in his right leg. Now, he has suffered a finger injury in Sri Lanka. Gill’s repeated injuries have also worried fans.
