Jason Sanjay’s directorial debut Sigma reached cinemas and drew different reactions from viewers on social media. The film starred Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in the lead roles and marked Sanjay’s first film as a director.
The film had originally been scheduled for release on July 31, 2026. Its release was later postponed after the makers changed the date following the release of Vijay’s Jana Supervisor on July 23.
After Sigma reached theatres, several viewers shared their thoughts on X. Some praised the film’s pace, action scenes and performances, while others found the story and direction average.
One viewer described Sigma as a “slick heist action drama” and praised Sundeep Kishan’s performance and the film’s screenplay.
Another viewer had a different response and called the film “strictly average”. The user praised its fast screenplay but criticised what they considered an outdated story, average direction and the music.
A separate post praised the lead cast and described the film as a theatrical experience. The viewer highlighted Sundeep Kishan’s energy and Faria Abdullah’s performance.
The different reactions came shortly after the film’s theatrical release, with viewers continuing to discuss Sigma online.
The film had also recorded advance bookings before its release. According to figures cited by Sacnilk, Sigma had collected Rs 5.21 crore gross from six days of pre-sales with block seats included. Without block seats, the figure stood at Rs 4.30 crore.
The film’s opening-day performance was expected to depend on audience turnout across shows during the day and evening.
Meanwhile, Vijay had not publicly reacted to the release. Sangeetha Sornalingam, Vijay’s wife and Jason Sanjay’s mother, was spotted at a theatre in Chennai on Friday morning.
