Bigmama, a Korean restaurant in Singapore, has shut its doors following more than a decade in business.
The owner confirmed in social media posts and comments on Monday that Bigmama, located on Kim Tian Road, had served its last meal a day earlier.
“After 16 wonderful years, the time has come to bring the beautiful journey of Bigmama to a close,” she wrote in a post, adding that she was preparing to return to South Korea.

The establishment was set up in January 2012 by a former caretaker and tutor who had earlier spent years cooking for her Korean students when they were studying in Singapore, according to food publication SethLui.
The restaurant was best known for its suyuk (steamed pork belly) and dakgalbi (pan-fried chicken), according to AsiaOne.
“Words cannot express how grateful I am for your unwavering love and the precious memories we’ve shared,” Bigmama’s post read. “Thank you for filling a significant chapter of my life with your warm smiles.”
