Sisodia also refuses to appear, preparing to go to Rajghat, AAP coming back in its old colours?

Aam Aadmi Party, which lost the elections in Delhi, is out of power but has been in the news for the last several months. From the acquittal of all the accused, including Arvind Kejriwal, in the Delhi Excise Policy case in late February to the rebellion of Raghav Chadha and other MPs, AAP has been in the news almost every day. It has both positive and negative aspects. Now in excise policy, after Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia has also refused to appear in the court of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma. AAP is in a mood to prolong the matter and is calling it ‘Satyagraha’. In this sequence, both the senior leaders of AAP are going to Rajghat. Now it is also being linked to the old style of AAP, when in its initial days this party was seen on the streets on every issue.

After losing power in Delhi, AAP is trying hard to save its power in Punjab, strengthen itself in Gujarat and Goa and make a comeback in Delhi. Meanwhile, the rebellion of its seven MPs has spoiled the atmosphere of the party. However, Arvind Kejriwal is once again giving edge to the party’s campaigns. AAP’s activities in the last two months indicate that its top leaders want to remain ‘visible’ at all costs. Arvind Kejriwal himself seems to be doing this work very well.

Plan is visible in every work

Along with Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and many other leaders are also accused in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Arvind Kejriwal released a letter and video on Monday and said that he does not expect to get justice from Swarn Kanta Sharma, hence he will not appear in her court. Manish Sisodia could have made the same announcement immediately but Manish Sisodia did it after a day and on the same day both of them announced to go to Rajghat. This shows that AAP wants to keep this issue alive and also wants to take political advantage through it.

Manish Sisodia wrote in a post on social media on Tuesday, ‘With full respect and honor, I have written a letter to Honorable Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of Delhi High Court requesting that in the present circumstances my conscience does not allow me to participate further in the proceedings of this case before her. For me, this is not a question of any particular person, but a question of the trust on which the justice system stands that justice is not only fair to every citizen, but also appears fair.

He further wrote, ‘I also want to make it clear that my faith in the judiciary and the Constitution is completely unwavering but when serious doubts remain in my mind, then mere formal participation is not right for me. Therefore, I have no option left except Satyagraha…’

AAP followed the formula of staying in news

As soon as Arvind Kejriwal was acquitted in the Excise Policy case on 26th February, he suddenly started looking active. Earlier, he was seen in political or government programs of Punjab and Gujarat, looking after the work related to the party’s organization, but now he seems to be very conscious about the image of AAP in the politics of the country. At one time, AAP, which contested elections in every state, also fielded its candidates in Kerala, but first Arvind Kejriwal himself went to Tamil Nadu to seek votes for MK Stalin and then for Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal.

Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal himself appeared in Justice Swaran Kanta Sharma’s court with an appeal to remove him from his case, presented his arguments and its video went viral on social media. Through this also he managed to shine his ‘fighter’ image and tried his best to strengthen himself in the battle of perception.

Now once again in the name of ‘Satyagraha’, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are busy in making their party visible. The effect of this is that Arvind Kejriwal, his case and Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma are getting more attention than the rebellion of Raghav Chadha and other MPs. In the last few years, it has been said about Arvind Kejriwal that he had started avoiding taking to the streets and did not want to show himself as ‘anarchical’.

AAP will go into agitation mode?

The capital of the country has been the stronghold of AAP which has been out of power in Delhi. Next year there are Delhi Municipal Corporation elections and Punjab Assembly elections. If AAP is in power in Punjab, the challenges there are different. However, the agitation mood suits AAP which is seeing its hopes in Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, Uttarakhand and Himachal. It has strengthened itself through similar movements in Gujarat and this was also visible in the 2022 election results when there was a tremendous increase in its vote percentage.

AAP has many issues in Delhi on which it can take to the streets. Arvind Kejriwal’s activism is indicating that the Aam Aadmi Party is probably preparing for this and along with Punjab, it can sharpen its campaign in movement mode in other states also.
