Skin Care Tips: Before taking proper skin care, identify your skin type, know the right routine for every skin

Therefore, it is very important to know your skin type, because only then proper skin care can be done and the skin remains healthy and glowing.

If skin care is not done as per skin type, then there is a risk of acne, rash or allergy on the face. Understanding your skin type is the first step towards choosing the right skin care routine.

How to identify skin type
It is very easy to know the exact type of your skin. To know your skin type, wash your face with a mild cleanser (face soap or face wash) and dry it gently with a towel.

Do not apply any cream, lotion or moisturizer on the face. Wait for 30 to 40 minutes and then look at your skin carefully in the mirror.

1.Oily skin
If after 30 minutes, oil or shine starts appearing on your entire face (forehead, nose, chin and cheeks), then your skin is oily. Those with oily skin should wash their face with a gel-based face wash containing salicylic acid twice a day.

2.Dry skin
If your skin starts feeling stretched, it means your skin is dry. Those with dry skin should use a hydrating face wash daily and apply a moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid or ceramides at night to maintain skin moisture levels.

Apart from this, people with dry skin should drink plenty of water and use gentle cleanser, so that the natural oil of the skin is not taken away.

3.Combination Skin
If your T zone (forehead, nose and chin) looks oily, but your cheeks feel dry or normal, then you have combination skin. Apply a light gel moisturizer on oily parts of the face with combination skin and a little heavy moisturizer on dry cheeks.

4.Normal skin
If your face neither looks too oily nor feels stretched, then your skin is normal. Normal skin is neither too oily nor dry. Follow the basic skin care routine (cleansing, moisturizing and sunscreen) for normal skin.

5.Sensitive skin
If redness, itching or irritation starts appearing on your face as soon as you apply any new product, it means your skin is sensitive. For those with sensitive skin, choose mild products without fragrance and sulphate. Before applying any new product on the face, do a patch test on your hands and do not use too many skin care and beauty products on the face.
