Sky disaster in the mountains, people of these 4 districts should be careful in the next 48 hours!

As the pace of monsoon increases in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand, problems have also started increasing. Intermittent torrential rains in the mountains have now become a big problem for the common people as well as the Chardham pilgrims. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert of heavy rain in four very sensitive districts of the state. The administration has appealed to the people not to come out of their homes unnecessarily and not to travel on hilly roads.

In fact, due to this monsoon rain, debris and boulders are continuously falling from the mountains, due to which life has become disrupted in the entire state. According to the latest report, at present around 30 main and link roads in Uttarakhand have been completely blocked due to debris. Due to the closure of roads, the border and rural areas have been completely cut off from the district headquarters, due to which the local people are facing the crisis of everyday goods.

Hundreds of devotees stranded midway, JCB machines deployed

At present, the Char Dham Yatra routes are being hit the hardest due to rain and landslides. The condition of Yamunotri National Highway is the worst, where at many places heavy boulders have broken from the mountains and fallen on the main road. Due to closure of the highway, hundreds of devotees going to visit Yamunotri Dham and returning from there are stuck midway. However, local administration and Public Works Department (PWD) teams are ready at the spot with JCB machines. The work to remove the debris is going on a war footing, but continuous intermittent rains are repeatedly hampering the rescue operation.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert of particularly heavy rain for four districts including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Bageshwar. It is being told that within the next 24 to 48 hours, there may be heavy showers with thunder and lightning in these areas and there is also a possibility of lightning. Meteorologists say that due to this sudden heavy rain in the mountains, the risk of landslides increases significantly, hence there is a need to be extremely cautious.

Rivers and drains in spate, strict instructions not to travel at night

Due to continuous rains, the mountain rivers and streams are in spate, due to which there is a danger of rising water level in the plains as well. In view of the situation, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the local police administration have been instructed to remain on high alert 24 hours. The district administration has issued a guideline for local residents, tourists and pilgrims, asking them to stay away from swollen rivers and streams and sensitive hill roads. The administration has clearly said that one should completely avoid traveling in the mountains in this season, especially at night, because it is difficult to predict landslides in the dark.
