Smartphone Tips- Check if your new phone is really new?
Friends, in today’s modern era, smartphones have become an important part of our lives, from online classes and office work to digital payments and entertainment, today everything is dependent on mobile phones. But along with this demand, fake and duplicate smartphones are also being sold in the market. To avoid getting scammed, it is very important to check the phone properly before purchasing. This is how to identify real and fake-
1. Check IMEI number (Most important step)
Every mobile phone has a unique IMEI number which serves as its identification.
Dial *#06# on your phone to check the IMEI number
Match it with the IMEI number printed on the box and bill
There must be the same number on all three (phone, box, bill)
If any difference is found, the phone may be counterfeit or may have been tampered with.
Verify IMEI online or via SMS
You can easily check authenticity by using government services:
CEIR Portal Method:
Visit the official CEIR website
Enter your mobile number and verify OTP
Submit IMEI number to check validity
SMS Method (KYM Service):
Type: KYM <15-digit IMEI number>
send this to 14422
If you get the message “IMEI IS VALID”, the device is genuine
3. Check the phone box carefully
The packaging of genuine smartphones is always of good quality.
Clear printing and good colors
correct seal and serial number
Brand logos are in the right place
Includes warranty and certification information
The following items are often seen in counterfeit boxes:
blurry printing
spelling mistakes
blurry logo
Poor build quality
4. Check seller authenticity and billing
Whether buying online or offline:
Always buy from a trusted or authorized seller
Check GST information of the shop if needed
Make sure to get a confirmed GST bill and warranty card.
Be careful if the price is too low
Too cheap a deal is often a red flag.
5. Check the performance of the phone after purchase
Fake or duplicate phones often show these early signs:
Slow performance and frequent hangs
poor camera quality
overheating problem
Apps crashing or not working properly
Loose buttons or poor build quality
Such problems often indicate that the device is not genuine or has substandard hardware.
