Because of this, people will get free electricity for the next 25 years and will also earn additional income. Those who consume up to 400 units of electricity will get free solar panels.

In the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the second amendment of Delhi Solar Energy Policy-2023 was given the green signal. According to which, in the financial year 2025-26, domestic customers using an average of 400 units of electricity will be installed rooftop solar system up to 3 kW without any initial expense.
Rekha Gupta government will install free solar panels on the roofs of 2.30 lakh houses by March 2027. On one hand they will get free electricity and on the other hand they will also earn money by selling excess electricity.
Giving information about this scheme during the press conference, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that it will be established without any initial expenditure. Delhi government will provide a support of Rs 78,000 per customer in the form of grant and subsidy. Delhi Energy Minister Ashish Sood said that this policy will further strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme' in Delhi.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the path to developed India goes through developed Delhi and this decision has been taken with this in mind. It will be mandatory for the concerned vendor to operate and maintain the solar system installed by the government for five years. There will be an option to continue maintenance of the solar system for its entire 25 year lifespan. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta gave this information in a press conference at Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.
