Delhi Police has detained Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar-Mantar and admitted her to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. It is also understood that other protesters were also tried to be removed from there. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court within a few hours after this.

For the past 20 days, CJP and Sonam Wangchuk have been protesting for the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan at the Jantar Mantar Maidan. Meanwhile, an appeal was filed in the Delhi High Court regarding his condition. Expressing concern over his health, the High Court had also issued some orders to the government. However, he was detained by the Delhi Police this morning and admitted to the hospital.

Social activist Sonam Wangchuk’s agitation at Jantar-Mantar in Delhi has taken a new turn. After Wangchuk was shifted to the hospital by the police, Abhijit Deepke, who led the protest, announced an indefinite hunger strike. Meanwhile, a woman hurled ink at them, creating an atmosphere of confusion at the protest site for some time. The protestors present immediately caught the concerned woman and handed her over to the police. Delhi Police is currently interrogating her.

‘Sonam Wangchuk was picked up like a criminal’

Abhijit Deepke, while addressing the protesters, expressed his displeasure over the manner in which Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the protest site by the police. “They were picked up like criminals. This is an attempt to weaken the movement. So now I am starting an indefinite hunger strike in their place,” he said.
