Sonam Wangchuk supported the cockroach movement, warned the government, said – suppressing dissent will increase anger.

Sonam Wangchuk on Cockroach Janata Party: Environmentalist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk on Saturday launched the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ The online ‘Cockroach’ Has given his support to the movement. Sonam calls herself an ‘honorary cockroach’ Stating this, he appealed to the government to support the ‘digital expression’ of the youth. Instead of suppressing them, pay attention to the issues being raised by them. In this online campaign, the picture of the cockroach is being used satirically and as a symbol of determination and dissent.

Let us tell you that this campaign has attracted people’s attention in recent times when its founders have complained about action taken on their social media accounts, including account suspension and allegations of hacking. This movement of Cockroach Party is taking place on issues like unemployment, exam question paper leak and public accountability.

I am very impressed: Wangchuk

Sonam Wangchuk, while talking to a news agency on this controversy, said that this campaign should be seen as a democratic response and not as a threat. Sonam said, ”First of all, I am very impressed.” He further said, ‘Such creative expression of our youth is nothing to worry or fear. The government should understand this message – don’t kill the messenger. If we kill the messenger, the message will not end.”

When Sonam Wangchuk was asked whether she would formally join the movement, she said, ‘I have been asked to speak on this from many places. Some people are saying that I should also become a member.” “(But) I guess I don’t deserve it – I’m neither unemployed nor lazy,” he said jokingly. So, sadly, I am not a member. But I consider myself an honorary cockroach.”

It is the duty of the Government of India to understand the message.

Wangchuk said, ‘Just as you don’t shoot cartoonists in newspapers because they have made a caricature of the Prime Minister, the Home Minister or the Defense Minister. Similarly, this is also satire. Look at it as a reaction.” Sonam Wangchuk further said, I am very impressed that the youth of India wanted to express their frustration in such a creative way, and not by throwing stones on the streets, as has happened in other countries before. It is the duty of the Government of India to respect it, look upon it with affection and understand its message.
