Recently, Sonam Wangchuk's fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi had increased the pressure on the Central Government. Now once again he has given an ultimatum to the government. Wangchuk has warned of agitation again between 19 and 24 September. This time he has given one week's time to the Central Government on issues related to Ladakh. Wangchuk gave this warning after the talks in New Delhi between the major organizations of Ladakh and the subcommittee of the Union Home Ministry (MHA).
Sonam Wangchuk expressed disappointment over the outcome of the meeting held on September 9. He said that no significant progress was made in the talks. On social media platform X, he also shared a clip of comedian Jaspal Bhatti's old show and took a dig at the meeting. The leaders of Ladakh have also discussed the further strategy after the meeting.

On which issue of Ladakh did you warn of agitation?
The Home Ministry's subcommittee held a meeting with prominent leaders of Ladakh in New Delhi on September 9. Representatives of Leh Apex Body (LAB) and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) participated in it. Many demands including giving statehood to Ladakh and giving special protection to the region under the Constitution were discussed in the meeting.

Sonam Wangchuk said that the leaders of both the organizations are disappointed with the outcome of the meeting. The leaders of LAB and KDA are now going to give information about the future strategy by holding a press conference at Ladakh Bhawan in New Delhi.
Signs of agitation again before 24th September
The Leh apex body is observing September as Martyrs Month in memory of those killed, injured and jailed last year. The organization had planned to take out a padyatra from Kargil to Leh on September 10 but it has been postponed due to a meeting with the Home Ministry.

Sonam Wangchuk said that if talks with the government do not yield any satisfactory result then the padayatra can be resumed. He also indicated that a major movement could begin about five days before September 24. Along with this, he appealed to the people across the country to come forward in support of Ladakh, its environment and the people living on the border.
