Sonbhadra’s group leaves for Delhi to attend tribal cultural gathering, will submit memorandum on the issue of religious conversion

A large number of people from the tribal community left from Sonbhadra district to participate in the Tribal Cultural Samagam to be organized at the Red Fort grounds in New Delhi on Sunday, May 24, 2026, under the auspices of the Tribal Security Forum. On Saturday, a group of 84 people left for New Delhi from Chopan Block with enthusiasm and zeal. The march started amid slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram. The participants participated in the event and pledged to raise various issues related to the tribal society at the national level.
Santosh Singh Gond, provincial coordinator of Tribal Security Forum, said that this conference is being organized on important topics like cultural identity of tribal society, rights and religious conversion. He said that a large number of people from tribal community are coming from various districts of the state including Sonbhadra to participate in the program. People have been sent from Chopan block through two buses, while buses have also been arranged from other blocks of the district. Santosh Singh Gond said that a total of 14 buses have been sent from the district for the event. These include people of tribal society from various Gram Panchayat and Nagar Panchayat areas.
He said that during the event, a memorandum will be submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the concerns and demands of the tribal society on the issue of religious conversion. The forum hopes that the government will consider their demands positively. He said that the purpose of this yatra is not only to convey our demands to the government, but also to introduce the tribal brothers to the historical and cultural heritage of the country. On reaching New Delhi, there is also a plan to take the participants on a tour of other important places including Red Fort.
Thousands of people from the tribal community from across the country are likely to participate in the event. The organizers believe that this program will provide an opportunity to firmly place the unity, cultural heritage and social issues of the tribal society on the national stage.
