Sooraj Barjatya calls ‘Dhurandhar’ a ‘perfect picture after Sholay’ and praises Aditya Dhar
Indian filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya praised director Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar and called it a “perfect picture after Sholay” during a recent conversation.
He said that although the film was not a typical family drama, he still enjoyed it as a filmmaker. He added that every character in the film was well developed and impactful.
He stated, “As a filmmaker, whatever’s good is good. I think Dhurandhar is a perfect picture after Sholay. Every character is so well done. Hats off to Aditya.”
He also shared that he had appreciated strong storytelling in recent films and mentioned that such content was important for audiences.
He said, “All subjects should get made, but this type of content is very important so that we can tell the younger generation to trust, hope, and support each other.”
The Who are you? director also highlighted that cinema should help reduce division and encourage unity among people.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revengefeaturing Ranveer Singh, continued its strong run at the box office, entering its fourth week with impressive global earnings and sustained audience turnout.
The film follows Ranveer Singh as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, showing how he turns into Hamza Ali Mazari. The story goes into his rise in Lyari’s underworld while working on a larger mission.
The cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt.
