New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan was dramatically arrested by the ED on Saturday as soon as he was released from Rampur jail. Today the ED team took Azam Khan to the special PMLA court in Ghaziabad and got him produced. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. Azam had come out of jail with son Abdullah on Saturday. Then the ED took him into custody. It is known that ED had registered a case against Azam Khan's Jauhar Trust on the complaint made in 2019. After which investigation after investigation continued. ED interrogated officials of Jauhar Trust and close ones of Azam Khan.

On October 13, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) team came to the district jail of Rampur and interrogated Azam Khan. The investigation into the fraud worth crores revealed that accounts of Rs 494 crore were not being found. After which a case of corruption and money laundering was registered against Azam Khan and his Jauhar Trust. As soon as Azam Khan was released from jail on Saturday, ED took him into custody and took him with itself. He will be produced in the PMLA court of Ghaziabad on Sunday. Azam can be kept in Dasna jail for now.

The political and family journey of Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam has always been in the news. While the father was a big face in the politics of the state, the son also made his mark in politics. But in the recent past, the most difficult chapter of both their lives passed within the four walls of the jail. Father and son reached jail together and continued fighting the legal battle together. Many times there was hope for bail, but legal hurdles blocked the way out.

When Abdullah reached home, the family must have at least felt relieved by the return of their son, but the father's absence left that happiness incomplete. The father and son remained together inside the jail, but as soon as they came out of the jail, circumstances separated them.
Azam Khan is not being punished for being a Muslim, but for his crimes: Keshav Prasad Maurya
When taken into custody by ED on Saturday, Azam Khan had told the media outside Rampur jail that he was being punished for being a Muslim. On this, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Mohammad Azam Khan is not being punished for being a Muslim or for building a university, but action is being taken in the cases of alleged crimes and corruption committed by him. He said that if there were irregularities during the tenure of Akhilesh Yadav when he was the Chief Minister and Azam Khan was the cabinet minister in his government, then Akhilesh Yadav should also be included in the scope of investigation.
Fought the battle till the High Court, still the difficulties did not reduce.
Azam Khan fought a long legal battle till the High Court to come out of the bars. Even after this, Azam Khan's troubles did not reduce. Of course, Azam was released from the district jail on Saturday but, after a few minutes, the Enforcement Directorate tightened the legal screws on him and took him into custody. With this, Azam's troubles are believed to increase further.
