Before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027, the political temperature of the state has suddenly increased. It is reported that Yogi Adityanath government is preparing to bring a big scheme to empower women financially, under which a total assistance amount of Rs 50-50 thousand can be given to the eligible women.
According to sources, as the first installment of this scheme, Rs 20 thousand can be given to women before the elections and the remaining Rs 30 thousand will be given in three installments of Rs 10 thousand each after the return of the BJP government. As soon as this news came into the media headlines, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav took a very tough stance on it and raised serious questions on the intentions of the government.
“Trying to buy people by transferring money”- Dimple Yadav
SP MP from Mainpuri Dimple Yadav, who came out after participating in the proceedings of the last day of the monsoon session of Parliament, expressed her strong displeasure while talking to journalists. He said in a frank manner, “We do not welcome this decision at all. By transferring money to people's accounts just before the elections, you are trying to buy them off somewhere.”
Giving examples of other states, Dimple Yadav said that we had also seen in Bihar how the government had transferred Rs 10,000 each to the accounts of women before the elections. Exactly similar work was done in Maharashtra also. He said that Samajwadi Party is completely alert and we knew that the government will definitely do something like this to win the elections. Our party is fully prepared to counter such political tactics.
“Only corruption has happened in 10 years, youth did not get jobs”
The SP MP attacked the central and state governments and alleged that BJP has only done corruption in the last 10 years and has not done any real work for the public. Scams and corruption worth thousands of crores of rupees have taken place under BJP rule.
Raising questions on the infrastructure of the state, he said that today the situation is such that roads are falling apart as soon as they are built and the infrastructure is in bad condition. Government jobs were not given, due to which the educated youth of the state are forced to wander from door to door and roam unemployed. Dimple further said that the PDA (backward, Dalit, minority) class is not getting the reservation that it should have. In such a situation, the Bharatiya Janata Party will have to give a full account of its 10 years of work to the public.
Political track record of 'cash transfer' schemes in election states
It is noteworthy that this trend of giving financial assistance directly to the bank accounts of women before the elections started during the Madhya Pradesh elections. After this, governments in Maharashtra, Bihar and Jharkhand also took the initiative of transferring money directly into the accounts of women just before the elections and were successful in returning to power.
However, this formula has not proven effective everywhere. Similar efforts were made in West Bengal to distribute money to women, but despite this, Mamata Banerjee's government could not be ousted there. Now it will be interesting to see how effective this move proves to be before the 2027 elections in UP.
