Spin Twins Akeal Hosein, Noor Ahmad Weave Magic as CSK Crush Mumbai by 103 Runs
After a stunning century from Sanju Samson, Akeal Hosein, along with Noor Ahmad, shone for CSK with a brilliant bowling performance, setting up CSK’s mammoth 103-run win against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.
Akeal Hosein picked four wickets in his four-over spell, leaking only 17 runs at an economy of 4.20 on Thursday’s clash. By this win, Chennai Super Kings went on to fifth position in the IPL 2026 points table.
After being invited to bat first, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings while Jasprit Bumrah opened the bowling attack.
With a 7-run over from Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya delivered a 19-run over where Ruturaj Gaikwad had a decent start.
However, AM Ghazanfar bagged the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 22 runs. He got dismissed after striking the ball too long, where Tilak Varma picked the catch.
Sarfaraz Khan, who came to bat, added 14 runs off 7 deliveries before being dismissed by Michell Santner. He got bowled out after attempting a sweep shot. By the end of the power play, Chennai Super Kings scored 73 runs for 2 wickets.
Shivam Dube who came to bat at no. 4 got dismissed for 5 runs by Ghazanfar. He also got bowled out after the ball got inside edge and hit the top of off-stumps. With his dismissal, Chennai Super Kings lost three wickets for 91 runs.
With Dewald Brevis walked in to bat, he will be aiming to forge a partnership with Sanju Samson. In the meantime, Sanju Samson went on to smash his fifty and went on to drive the side aiming to post a big total.
Ashwani Kumar brought the breakthrough dismissing Dewald Brevis for 21 runs. He got dismissed on a short ball outside off, where he get tried for a upper cut and Bumrah took the catch at deep.
Kartik Sharma who came to bat scored 18 runs off 19 deliveries before being dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah. He caught out deep square leg where Mitchell Santner dived forward to complete a good low catch.
Jamie Overton who came to bat smashed 15 runs off 6 deliveries before Ashwani Kumar send him back to dug out.
With Akeal Hosein and Sanju Samson at crease, Chennai Super Kings crossed 200 run mark in the final over. With needing three runs in the final delivery for hundred, Sanju Samson smashed his second hundred of this season.

By the end of 20 overs, Chennai Super Kings scored 207 runs for 6 wickets. AM Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar bagged two wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner bagged one wicket each.
Chasing 208 runs, Quinton de Kock and Danish Malewar opened the innings while Akeal Hosein opened the bowling attack. Hosein bagged the wicket of Danish Malewar for golden duck. He got dismissed on a full length delivery which got outside edge and Sanju Samson got the catch behind the stumps.
Mukesh Choudhary who deliveried the second over bagged the wicket of Quinton de Kock. He got dismissed on a delivery which got inside edge and hit the stumps.
Naman Dhir who came to bat at No. 3, got dismissed by Akeal Hosein for duck. Chennai Super Kings deliveried a brilliant performance picking three wickets for 11 runs.
With Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav at crease, Mumbai Indians went on to score 29 runs in the powerplay.
The duo made a 73-run partnership in the game, before the dismissal of Tilak Varma for 37 runs. He got bowled out from a delivery from Akeal Hosein.
On the other hand, Noor Ahmed picked the wickets of Hardik Pandya and Sherfane Rutherford on consecutive deliveries as Mumbai Indians lost 6 wickets of 85 runs.
Akeal Hosein brough his four wicket dismissing Suryakumar Yadav for 36 runs. With Jamie Overton picked the wicket of Krish Bhagat for 7 runs, Anshul Kamboj bagged the wicket of Shardul Thakur for 6 runs.
Mumbai Indians are down to their last wicket as Ashwani Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah at crease. With Gurjapneet Singh picked the wicket of Jasprit Bumrah, Mumbai Indians lost all 10 wickets as Chennai Super Kings secured a 103 run victory.
Akeal Hosein picked four wickets while Noor Ahmed picked two wickets. Remaining bowlers Mukesh Choudhary, Anshul Kamboj, Jamie Overton and Gurjapneet Singh bagged one wicket each.
Chennai Super Kings will play their next match against Gujarat Titans on April 26 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
