On Sunday, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced the release date of Prabhas and Triptii Dimri’s upcoming film Spirit. The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 29, 2027, coinciding with the Diwali festive season.
Prabhas’ film is likely to clash with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 2, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, which is also expected to release during Diwali 2027. However, the makers of Ramayana Part 2 have not yet confirmed an exact release date.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared the new release date on X, unveiling a new poster featuring Prabhas. In the poster, the actor is seen wearing a cap and sporting a beard, flaunting an intense look.
In his post, Vanga confirmed that Spirit would receive a worldwide theatrical release on October 29, 2027. The film was previously scheduled to arrive in March 2027, following earlier plans for a December 2026 release.
The change in schedule has generated excitement among fans while also raising the possibility of a major box-office battle between two highly anticipated films.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who previously directed Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh and Animal. The upcoming film is described as a cop action drama, with Prabhas playing a police officer.
The cast also includes Vivek Oberoi, Kanchana and Prakash Raj, according to media reports. The film is produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.
Ramayana Part 2 likely to clash with Ramayana 2
The revised release date could put Spirit in competition with Ramayana Part 2, the second instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological saga.
While Ramayana Part 2 is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027, its exact release date remains unconfirmed. Therefore, it is not yet clear whether the two films will open on the same day or release at different points during the festive period.
