Sports News : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has written to the Mohali SSP seeking immediate registration of an FIR against the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA). The case relates to land deals worth around Rs 78 crore (about $78 million). A letter sent by ED’s Jalandhar zonal office dated October 12, 2026 reveals significant financial irregularities and discrepancies in the purchase of Rs 78 crore (about $78 million) land by PCA in Ajnala, Amritsar and Bathinda.
According to the ED’s preliminary investigation, the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) purchased 155 kanals of land in Ajnala, Amritsar and 100 kanals of land in Bathinda for a total of Rs 77,99,03,563 (approximately $78 million). The ED investigation found that the two private companies that sold the land to the PCA bought it for a total of Rs 6.92 crore (about $6.92 million) just three to six months ago.
Cost about 15.4 times more than the original price
After this, in February 2026, the same companies sold the land to PCA for Rs 58.22 crore. According to the ED, the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) paid around 15.4 times the original price paid by the companies for the land, which is much higher than the government collector rate.
Suspicion of money laundering
In the letter, the ED has suspected money laundering. According to the investigation, soon after the huge amount was transferred from the PCA, the funds were transferred to the accounts of the directors, partners and other private individuals of these companies. Subsequently, huge sums amounting to crores of rupees were withdrawn in cash from bank accounts or diverted to private institutions.
The PC president and other officials will face action
The PCA president and other officials are expected to face prosecution for this alleged corruption. After the letter came out, the names of Punjab Cricket Association’s current president Amarjit Mehta and officials associated with him are coming out to be implicated in the scam. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has directed the Mohali district police of Punjab to register a criminal case as soon as possible and initiate a thorough investigation into the entire land scam.
